"Mizrah" - Eastern Reflexions, Western Inspirations.

The "Mizrah"album represents a very original kind of music which is difficult to classify. Three points seem to be the most important. First, the initial material, representing the music with Eastern folk motives as well as original Roksana’s Vikaluk compositions arranged in a close to jazz way; second, the jazz "basis", and third, a very specific Roxana’s singing which naturally reaches the Eastern roots. The music performed by a quintet may be defined as a sort of a "world music"; the use of Ukrainian, Hebraic and Tatar themes represent also an important element, permitting to regard these compositions as "ethnic music".

Materiał zawarty na płycie "Mizrah" przedstawia bardzo oryginalny rodzaj muzyki. Trudno jest go zaklasyfikować. Z pewnością najważniejsze wydają się trzy elementy: po pierwsze - materiał wyjściowy, który stanowią tematy muzyki wschodniej ludowej oraz oryginalne kompozycje Roksany opracowane w sposób dość bliski jazzowi; po drugie - jazzowa "baza" oraz po trzecie - bardzo specyficzny śpiew artystki, który w sposób naturalny sięga do wschodnich korzeni. Muzyka, którą wykonuje kwintet, może być nazwana odmianą "world music"; wykorzystywanie tematów zapożyczonych z muzyki ukraińskiej, żydowskiej, tatarskiej jest także elementem, który pozwola na zaliczenie tych utworów do "muzyki etnicznej":"Jest to płyta, nagrana z moim pierwszym zespołem MIZRAH. Najpierw wystąpiliśmy w ramach konkursu festiwalowego "Nowa Tradycja" (2002). A wynikiem była nagroda specjalna w postaci nagrania płyty, otrzymana z rąk Czesława Niemena... Są to klimaty mocno jazzujące, a inspiracją posłużyły nam tematy ludowe: ukraińskie, żydowskie, polskie... a nawet mantra hinduska :-)"

As an actress, she performs in Teatr Polski, Wroclaw, Poland. Author and co-author of music for stage plays. She has released 15 albums.
Collaboration with German artist and inventor Wolfram Spyra.
